Bill Shadbolt, Director of Faceplate Production

Bill has worked at Hardin Optical for over 25 years, filling many roles including technician, inspector, QA manager, production supervisor, and process analyst. He works closely with customers and suppliers to assure the quality and timeliness of deliveries. Bill has been an integral part of developing and implementing new processes within the production area.

 

 

 

Bob Schalck, Optical Development Engineer

Bob Schalck has for 30 years fabricated and tested optics for JDSU, OCLI, Humphrey Instruments (Carl Zeiss), Spectra Physics, and Tinsley before coming to Hardin Optical. He has vast experience in research and development, as well as a background in quality assurance. In addition to his "hands on" time in the lab, Bob develops proposals and works directly with the Hardin Optical technical staff.

 

 

 

Bob Burns, Customer Relations

Bob Burns worked for Martin Marietta Aerospace, Thiokol Corporation, and Sperry Space Systems for over 25 years, where he focused on systems development and on payload integration in both engineering and contract management capacities. Bob holds a Masters degree in Business with undergraduate and graduate work in Physics. He also developed and implemented a design-build approach for a multi-billion dollar major highway construction program for the Oregon Department of Transportation.

 

 

Jimy Martin, Custom Optics Lead Technician

Jimy has 25 years of optical experience gained while working at Spectra Physics and then Research Electro-Optics before coming to Hardin Optical. She is a Master Optician and supports the entire project process from fabrication all the way through to final inspection.

 

 

 

 

Doug Shellhart, Lead Machinist/Manufacturing Engineer

Doug has over 30 years of high-precision machining experience and has worked with companies such as Raytheon and Vetco Gray. Doug obtained his Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering in 1979. He has extensive experience in CNC programming, CAD/CAM, and tool design which enables him to translate prototype concepts into finished items. While at Raytheon, Doug was an integral part of the design and manufacture team for their Patriot Missile Program as well as the radar jamming system. At Vetco Gray, Doug designed the proto-type model for the subsea oil reclamation unit and engineered and manufactured the blowout preventer for that unit. He has maintained affiliations with the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and has been a Senior Manufacturing Engineer member since 1984.

 

Bob Pease, Custom Optics Technician

Bob Pease has 30 years of optical fabrication experience and has worked for Rockwell International, Rand Precision Optics, and Perkin-Elmer Corp. Throughout his career Bob has worked in research and development, tooling design, and process development and implementation. He has worked on such projects as ring laser gyro inertial navigation systems for the Minuteman Missile, electrostatic gyro for Trident and Polaris submarines, and Sidewinder Missile optics.

 

 

Dave Valleli, Custom Optics Lab Manager

Dave Valleli comes to Hardin from Axsys Technologies with over 10 years of experience manufacturing infrared optics in a wide variety of hands-on and management capacities. He has fabricated precision optics, including SPDT fabricated optics, for projects such as the US military’s TWS and CROWS programs. In addition he has provided precision optics for custom zoom lens assemblies, fully integrated camera systems, and commercial optics for a variety of applications. Interfacing closely with DOD prime contractors, he has proven experience in planning and executing projects from bid through delivery.
